Pa. man jailed on charges he threw remote at son
IRWIN, Pa. — A western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he threw a television remote control at his 8-year-old son’s head, and police say he blamed it on the boy’s incessant talking.
Irwin Police Chief Joe Pocsatko says 47-year-old Scott Lackey is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and harassment for the alleged incident Sunday night.
The chief says Lackey claimed the boy has attention deficit disorder and “wakes up in the morning and starts talking and doesn’t stop all day.”
Police say the boy was hurt badly enough to be treated for a “visible injury” at a hospital.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for Lackey, who was jailed Monday. His wife filed a protection-from-abuse order on Tuesday.
Child welfare workers are also investigating.
