SC sheriff to discuss death of toddlers
ORANGEBURG, S.C. — A South Carolina sheriff is expected to give more information about the deaths of two toddlers whose bodies were recovered from a submerged car and their mother arrested.
An Orangeburg County Sheriff spokeswoman says the news conference is expected sometime Tuesday morning. Autopsies are also scheduled in the deaths of 18-month-old Ja’van T. Duley and 2-year-old Devean C. Duley. They lived in Orangeburg, which is about 35 miles south of the state capital of Columbia.
Their bodies were recovered Monday from the North Edisto River in Orangeburg. Their mother 29-year-old Shaquan Duley is being held on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Williams says deputies are investigating whether the deaths were accidental.
