Flight attendant accused of jet meltdown suspended

NEW YORK — JetBlue Airways has suspended a flight attendant accused of cursing out a passenger and exiting the plane on an emergency slide.

The airline says in a statement that Steven Slater has been removed from duty pending an investigation.

Slater is charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing for the alleged airplane meltdown.

A judge set his bail at $2,500 Tuesday.

Police say Slater lost his temper after a rule-breaking passenger hit him on the head with luggage.
