Husband charged in Ohio marriage counselor’s death
CLEVELAND — Police say an Ohio marriage counselor’s husband has been charged with aggravated murder in her stabbing death.
Cleveland police spokeswoman Nancy Dominik says 38-year-old Maurice Lyons was charged Wednesday. Lyons was arrested Monday, a day after his wife, 42-year-old Tonya Hunter, was found stabbed to death in her garage. Hunter’s 4-year-old son, who was found abandoned on a street corner, led police to her body.
Dominik says Lyons also was charged with domestic violence on an outstanding warrant. Court records show Hunter had filed two restraining orders against her husband in the past four months.
Jail officials say Lyons does not yet have an attorney. His arraignment was set for Thursday.
Hunter founded Success 1 Services, which offers marriage and family counseling.
