Widow seeks bail in Fla. hotel heir slaying
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A woman charged with orchestrating the slaying of her Florida hotel heir husband is seeking to be released on bail.
Narcy Novack wants a judge to release her Wednesday from custody pending trial. Novack is charged along with three men in a conspiracy that led to the July 2009 beating death in New York of 53-year-old Ben Novack Jr.
Ben Novack’s father founded Miami Beach’s famed Fontainebleau Hotel.
Federal prosecutors say they oppose bail for Narcy Novack because she may flee prosecution and could pose a danger.
Family members have battled over Ben Novack’s $10 million estate since his death.
Investigators are also re-examining the suspicious April 2009 death of Novack’s 86-year-old mother in Fort Lauderdale.
