German extradited from Turkey on terrorism charges
BERLIN — Turkey has extradited a 28-year-old man to Germany on terrorism charges linked to a group that plotted to attack U.S. targets.
German prosecutors say a man identified only as Salih S. was sent from Turkey on Tuesday to Germany to face charges of supporting a terrorist organization and membership in a terrorist organization.
They said Wednesday the German citizen is a member of the radical Islamic Jihad Union who trained at a terrorist camp in Pakistan. He is accused of procuring GPS devices, night vision goggles and other items for Adem Yilmaz.
Yilmaz was convicted with three others earlier this year of plotting a thwarted attack that a judge said could have killed large numbers of U.S. soldiers and civilians in Germany in “a terrible bloodbath.”
