Man pleads no contest to stealing jewelry of Catwoman actress Julie Newmar

Plea deal done in theft of Julie Newmar’s jewelry

LOS ANGELES — A man accused of stealing jewelry from Julie Newmar has pleaded no contest to grand theft.

Robert Ouriel entered the plea Tuesday in Los Angeles and was sentenced to three years probation and 45 days of community service.

The 49-year-old Ouriel has been described as an acquaintance of Newmar, who played the first Catwoman on the 1960s TV show “Batman.”

The actress spotted the stolen jewelry for sale on eBay and estimated it was worth $150,000.

Ouriel’s attorney Jeffrey Rubenstein says his client took the plea bargain so he could move on with his life.

A restitution hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14.
