LA police: Girl dies after she is stabbed by mom
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police say a mother stabbed her 10-year-old daughter several times and tried to kill herself before her husband woke up and disarmed her. The girl died several hours later.
Police spokesman Bruce Borihanh says the attack took place around 2:30 a.m. Friday at the family’s home in the Fort MacArthur residential military facility in San Pedro, 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
Police Lt. David McGill says the child, whose neck and wrists were slashed, died at County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Borihanh says her mother is in critical condition.
Police did not release the names of those involved.
Fort MacArthur is a residential community for personnel from the Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo.
