Person of interest in Mo. abduction dies
LOUISIANA, Mo. — Police say a man wanted for questioning in the abduction of a 4-year-old girl Missouri girl has died after shooting himself as police arrived at his home.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum said the man died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Charles late Wednesday. His name has not been released.
It was a gruesome twist to the story of Alisa Maier, who was snatched from her front yard in Louisiana, Mo., Monday night. Her 6-year-old brother told police a man in a dark-colored car pulled up and ordered Alisa to get in.
A little over 24 hours later, a dark-colored car was seen at a car wash in St. Louis County, some 70 miles to the south and a child was seen wandering nearby. It was Alisa.
Police went to a home in Hawk Point, Mo., about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to question the man. A dark-colored car was parked there.
