WESTON (GaeaTimes,com)- Investigators performed a property room search at the Weston Police Department which revealed several case evidences were not placed properly and weren’t even filed in the police logbooks. The property room search orders were issued by the Weston Mayor Terry Blanton. As a matter of fact, the search was initiated after a fellow officer of the Weston Police Department was taken into custody for stealing drugs from the property room. The drugs that were stolen formed a part of case evidence.
The accused officer Kyle Zumbrunn (27) pleaded guilty and he had been sent over to the Lansing Correctional Facility where he shall shall have to serve a sentence not less than 16 months. The property room search showed that there were in total, 110 drugs that were missing from the case evidences which included 45 pills of oxycodone, 37 pills of morphine sulfate and another 28 pills which were morphine. When asked about the property room search, the Plate County Sheriff’s office spokesman told the media that inspite of a fellow officer being found guilty of stealing drugs, the Weston Police department has no internal criminal activities.
Following the property room search, the Mayor blamed the Weston Police Department and called them incapable to maintain the case evidences. As a matter of fact, there were in total of 93 discrepancies that were cited out in the property room search. Many of the case evidences had improper documentation to support it and there were also several cases where labellings for the evidences were wrong. Although discrepancies were fixed, the investigation has revealed that the internal framework of the Weston Police Department is disorganized and aren’t capable of handling the case evidences which forms a vital part of the case.
