CHANDIGARH, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- District Consumer Forum has found Chandigarh Housing Board along with Holding Parsvanath Developers guilty of unfair trade practice. Reportedly, both Chandigarh Housing Board and Holding Parsvanath Developers refused Satya Jain of Sector 35 the possession of her apartment. Not only that, they also kept a major chunk out of the total deposited amount.

In due course of investigation, Direct Consumer Forum found that Chandigarh Housing Board and Holding Parsvanath Developers are guilty of the charge and thus they have been issued orders to pay back a sum of Rs. 3.7 lakh. It was a one-bedroom apartment at the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park from Parsvanath Prideasia which happens to be a joint venture between Chandigarh Housing Board and Holding Parsvanath Developers. Satya Jain had deposited a total sum of Rs. 15.85 lakh for her apartment. After she cancelled her possession, she was refunded a total sum of Rs.13.28 lakh only as Chandigarh Housing Board deducted 5 percent from the basic price of the apartment.

When Satya Jain approached the District Consumer Forum and Chandigarh Housing Board was charged, the Board officials said that the five percent deduction was in accordance to the agreement that was signed by both parties. As of now, the District Consumer Forum have declared that both Parsvanath Developers and Chandigarh Housing Board shall have to refund Rs 2.57 lakh to Satya Jain. As a penalty, they shall also pay an additional amount of Rs.50,000 for compensation and Rs. 5000 extra as litigation expense. The District Consumer Forum officials said that any complaint can’t wait for an indefinite period of time since there was no concrete word from the developers as when the flat would reach its completion.
