Prosecutors can seek death in Carnation killings
SEATTLE — A King County judge says prosecutors in Seattle can seek the death penalty against a couple charged in the slayings of six people three years ago.
Michele Anderson and Joseph McEnroe are each charged with six counts of aggravated first-degree murder in the deaths of three generations of Anderson’s family in rural Carnation, east of Seattle. Anderson’s parents, her brother and his wife, and her brother’s two young children were shot on Christmas Eve 2007.
Defense attorneys had argued the state’s aggravated-murder statute is unconstitutional. Superior Court Judge Jeffrey M. Ramsdell rejected those arguments on Friday.
