DETROIT — A 14-year-old Detroit girl accused of shooting a 13-year-old girl in the leg has been charged with assault with intent to murder.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says a preliminary examination is scheduled Wednesday afternoon in the Juvenile Detention Facility in Detroit. The older girl is being charged as a juvenile.
Prosecutors say in a release that the 14-year-old and her older sister were sitting on the front porch of their home Tuesday evening when a group of young people approached.
The 14-year-old and shooting victim began to fight, and the younger girl was shot with a handgun.
The victim was in stable condition at a local hospital.
