NY husband won’t help wife’s child-murder defense
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A lawyer says the husband of a woman accused of strangling their 18-year-old daughter is refusing to help her defense.
Attorney Allan Focarile (foh-kuh-REHL’-ee) is representing murder suspect Stacey Pagli (PAG’-lee). He said in court Wednesday that he has been unable to interview her husband, John Pagli.
Westchester County prosecutor Tim Ward says John Pagli has made it clear he doesn’t want to talk to the defense. Ward says it’s understandable.
John Pagli found their daughter’s body on Feb. 22 in their campus apartment. He is a maintenance supervisor at Manhattanville College in Purchase. Marissa Pagli was a freshman at the school.
Police documents quote Stacey Pagli as saying she killed their daughter because she was disrespectful.
