Video shows Wis. semi driving wildly on road
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin State Patrol has released squad car videos of a runaway semitrailer careening through the western Wisconsin town of Sparta.
The video shows the semitrailer driving down the middle of the road, running red lights, swerving around cars and nearly sideswiping a dump truck. At one point, the rig turns wildly and plows over a median into oncoming traffic, forcing vehicles to stop along the shoulder.
The truck eventually came to stop after running over police spike strips. According to a criminal complaint, the driver, Beant (bay-YUNT’) Singh Gill, told investigators he had been hearing voices that make him go blind.
Gill faces multiple charges. He’s due back in court May 28 for a preliminary hearing.
