Trial set for July on Pilgrim protective order

STILLWATER, Okla. — A July trial has been scheduled to determine whether a protective order will be enforced against Oklahoma State basketball player Matt Pilgrim.

Payne County Special Judge Phillip Corley on Thursday extended a temporary protective order granted to an OSU student who accused Pilgrim of sexually assaulting her in a campus dormitory. It will now run until the start of the trial, scheduled for July 8.

Pilgrim has not been arrested and does not face any criminal charges. A school spokesman says campus police had closed their investigation when the woman refused to cooperate with efforts to prosecute Pilgrim, then reopened their investigation at the woman’s request.

Pilgrim and his attorney, Willie Baker, declined comment after the brief hearing. Pilgrim started 13 games at forward for the Cowboys last season, averaging 8.2 points and 6.7 rebounds.
