Pa. man, 80, pleads guilty to strangling wife, 75
NORRISTOWN, Pa. — An elderly man has admitted strangling his wife inside their suburban Philadelphia apartment after he accused her of infidelity and she laughed at him.
Eighty-year-old Rudi Koos pleaded guilty to third-degree murder Wednesday in Montgomery County Court. Koos admitted he killed his 75-year-old wife, Waltrud, in their apartment in Souderton in January. Prosecutors say they’ll seek jail time for Koos.
Defense attorney Frank Genovese says his client is remorseful and just snapped when he thought his wife of 59 years was cheating on him.
Koos told police that after she laughed at him, they began arguing and he “lost it” and choked her.
Police say the couple lived in the apartment since they emigrated from East Germany in 1957.
