Mom accused of killing son in NY asks for bail, US
NEW YORK — A millionaire accused of killing her autistic 8-year-old son in a posh New York City hotel is poised to find out whether she can get out of jail to await trial.
A judge is expected to decide Friday on Gigi Jordan’s $5 million bail request. The former pharmaceuticals executive suggests the court cut off her access to her money and hire security guards to keep her from leaving her Manhattan town house. Prosecutors still fear she might flee.
Jordan has pleaded not guilty to murder in the February death of Jude Michael Mirra at the Peninsula Hotel. Authorities say she apparently tried to kill herself. But prosecutors now say she may have staged a suicide attempt.
She’s being held in a jail hospital ward.
