Abortion doc’s killer takes stand at sentencing

WICHITA, Kan. — A man who murdered a prominent Kansas abortion doctor has taken the witness stand at his sentencing hearing and is defending his actions by describing abortion procedures in detail.

Scott Roeder described various abortion procedures and called them “torture” and “murder.” He testified during his trial that he gunned down Dr. George Tiller last May in the foyer of the Wichita physician’s church to protect unborn children.

He faces a mandatory life prison sentence.

Roeder told Sedgwick County District Judge Warren Wilbert on Thursday that Tiller “dismembered living children with the nod of approval from the state.”

Roeder also criticized Wilbert for not allowing him to present such information during his trial.
