USVI men convicted in attack on Pennsylvania man
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — A jury has convicted two U.S. Virgin Islands men of assaulting a Pennsylvania native who was later killed by a third assailant.
Anselmo Boston and Kamal Thomas were convicted for a second time Wednesday on charges that included assault for the 2007 attack on James Cockayne. Their previous conviction was overturned on appeal. They are scheduled to be sentenced May 14.
Witnesses said the men attacked Cockayne with pool cues after a fight at a bar in St. John.
Cockayne was later fatally stabbed outside the bar. Kamal Thomas has been convicted of the slaying and is awaiting sentencing.
The 21-year-old Cockayne, from New Hope, Pennsylvania, had moved to the U.S. territory to work at a yacht club.
