Ala. campus shooting suspect in court for hearing

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A former professor is in court for her first appearance on charges of fatally shooting three colleagues and wounding three more at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Amy Bishop wore a red jump suit as she entered the courtroom in Huntsville on Tuesday. Her shackles could be heard clanging as she was led down a hall to the courtroom.

Bishop, who is listed as 44 on school records, is charged with capital murder in the deaths of three professors gunned down during a biology faculty meeting on Feb. 12. She has since been fired by the university.

Bishop’s attorney, Roy Miller, has said he will argue that Bishop is insane.
