No prison for ex-jailer in Girls Gone Wild case
RENO, Nev. — A former sheriff’s employee in Nevada will serve no prison time after admitting her part in a bribery scheme to give special treatment to Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis while he was jailed in Reno on tax charges.
U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks sentenced Mary Boxx Monday to 100 hours of community service, three years probation and a $1,680 fine for accepting a gratuity as a public official.
The maximum possible penalty was two years in prison. Corrections officials had recommended she serve at least four months house arrest.
Boxx admitted she snuck in tanning lotion for Francis as well as DVDs of “The Office,” ”24″ and “Family Guy.” But she says she never connected that to the $1,680 worth of cash and gifts she received.
Boxx was an inmate classification specialist for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department.
