Suspect in Fla. shooting rampage pleads not guilty
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — A man accused of a January shooting rampage in Florida that left three people dead has pleaded not guilty to two of the murder charges.
Authorities say 55-year-old John Kalisz killed his sister and another women and wounded two others at a Hernando County home. He then allegedly killed a Dixie County sheriff’s deputy in a shootout later in Cross City.
Kalisz was not in court for his scheduled arraignment Tuesday but entered the not-guilty pleas to the two Hernando County murder charges. He also faces a first-degree murder charge in the slaying of the Dixie County sheriff’s Capt. Chad Reed.
Authorities say the shootings had their root in a domestic dispute.
Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty.
