Ex-Va. man indicted in NJ weapons case
SOMERVILLE, N.J. — A former Virginia man has been indicted on charges related to a cache of weapons and a map of an Army base found in his New Jersey motel room.
Lloyd Woodson, whose last known address was in Reston, Va., faces numerous charges — including attempted robbery and multiple weapons offenses — in the indictment handed up Thursday by a Somerset County grand jury.
Branchburg police found the weapons Jan. 25 after responding to a suspicious person call at a convenience store.
At the time, he was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a loaded semiautomatic rifle, county Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said. The motel room search found more weapons, and a map of New York’s Fort Drum, a police scanner and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Woodson’s public defender, Chanel Hudson, declined to discuss the case at length.
