Colo school reopens for counseling after shooting
LITTLETON, Colo. — The Colorado school where two children were shot and wounded reopened Friday for students who wanted to talk to counselors or pick up items they left behind in the confusion that followed the attacks.
A man with a hunting rifle opened fire outside Deer Creek Middle School in south suburban Denver on Tuesday.
One of the wounded students, Reagan Weber, was treated for an arm injury and released. The other, Matthew Thieu, remained hospitalized in good condition with rib and lung injuries.
Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood, 32, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Authorities have not determined a motive.
A teacher tackled Eastwood and pinned him to the ground with the help of another teacher.
Classes resume Monday at Deer Creek. A counselor will be posted in each classroom that day, and a full-time security guard will be on duty for the rest of the academic year, school officials said.
