Warrant: Suspect confessed to 8 Virginia slayings
LYNCHBURG, Va. — An investigator says the suspect in last month’s slayings of eight people in Virginia confessed to all the killings shortly after his arrest.
Appomattox County sheriff’s investigator Donnie Simpson writes in a search warrant that suspect Christopher Speight (SPYT) confessed to shooting the eight victims in an interview after his Jan. 20 arrest. Authorities had not previously said how the victims died.
The warrant seeking a DNA sample from the 39-year-old was filed in Lynchburg Circuit Court on Friday. The News & Advance in Lynchburg first reported on the warrant’s contents.
Speight is charged with one count of first-degree murder, but additional charges are likely.
His attorney, Neil Horn, declined to comment on the warrant.
