Woman to be sentenced in Hollywood wiretap case
LOS ANGELES — A former phone company employee is facing up to 15 years in federal prison for lying to authorities during a wiretapping probe against ex-Hollywood private eye Anthony Pellicano.
Fifty-six-year-old Joann Wiggan of Burbank is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors claimed that Wiggan gave a former co-worker information from confidential phone company databases that Pellicano used for illegal wiretaps. They claimed Wiggan lied about her role to FBI agents, a federal grand jury and during trial.
She was convicted of perjury last year.
Pellicano is serving a 15-year federal sentence for wiretapping, conspiracy and other crimes. Wiggan is the 14 person convicted in connection with the case.
