Area police chief dies in Pakistan suicide attack
PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Police say a team of suicide bombers attacked two police stations in northwestern Pakistan, killing an area police chief and wounding several officers.
Police official Gul Zareen says the attacks started within minutes of each other Saturday in the district of Mansehra.
He says local police chief Khalil Khan died when an attacker blew himself up inside the police station in Mansehra.
He says a pair of attackers stormed a nearby police station minutes later, triggering a shootout that left one of the attackers dead.
He says the slain attacker was wearing a suicide jacket.
Zareen says a second attacker fled toward nearby offices, and officers were trying to track him down and capture him.
