Mass. State Police reviewing ‘86 Bishop slaying
BOSTON — Massachusetts State Police officials are reviewing the agency’s investigation of a 1986 shooting involving a University of Alabama-Huntsville professor accused of killing three colleagues.
Police say Amy Bishop opened fire in a faculty meeting a week ago. They haven’t released a motive but colleagues say she complained about not getting tenure.
Since that shooting, there have been revelations that she shot her brother to death in Massachusetts in 1986. State and local police ruled it an accident.
There are now questions about why Bishop did not face any charges after she fled the house and allegedly pointed the gun at people at a nearby auto body shop.
