Oahu motorist indicted in woman’s death
HONOLULU — An Oahu motorist accused of running over and killing a woman in the drive-through lane of a fast-food restaurant has been indicted for manslaughter.
Thirty-six-year-old Albert Birmingham had been charged with the less serious offense of negligent homicide in the Jan. 31 death of 20-year-old Raelynn Aloha Adams at the McDonald’s in Nanakuli.
Prosecutors allege Birmingham ran over Adams in his SUV after being involved in a confrontation with Adams’ boyfriend.
Deputy prosecuting attorney Victoria Kapp said Thursday that Birmingham was drunk at the time.
Court records say Birmingham was previously convicted of a drunken driving charge and was wanted for arrest in another DUI case when Adams was killed. It was unknown if Birmingham has an attorney.
His bail has been set at $150,000.
