Ex-contractor gets prison for sex assault in Iraq

HOUSTON — A former civilian defense contractor who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a female co-worker at an air base in Iraq has been sentenced to two years in federal prison.

David Charles Breda Jr. of Pearland, Texas, also was ordered to register as a sex offender and serve a lifetime term of supervised release. The 35-year-old pleaded guilty in October to sexually abusive contact.

Prosecutors say Breda jumped and fondled the woman in October 2008 at Camp Al Asad, Iraq, where he worked for a subsidiary of Houston-based KBR Inc.

The indictment didn’t identify the woman in the case, and it’s not known whether she also worked for the contractor.

U.S. District Judge Gray Miller in Houston also set an April hearing to determine the restitution Breda is to pay.
