Woman accused of taking $60K from demented NYC man

NEW YORK — Authorities in New York are looking for a woman accused of marrying a brain-damaged man and ingratiating herself with a demented 89-year-old to take money from both of them.

A court complaint says she took $60,000 from the 89-year-old man’s bank accounts last summer, after helping herself to the accounts of the brain-injured 63-year-old she married in 2008.

A judge issued an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Cher Thompson after she disappeared Thursday without going before the judge in a scheduled court appearance. The court date had been postponed after she collapsed in a courthouse hallway Tuesday.

Her lawyer didn’t return a call Thursday.

Thompson was out on $15,000 bail after her October arrest on charges including grand larceny.
