Swedish rapper testifies in LA murder trial
LOS ANGELES — A Swedish hip-hop artist accused of killing a pedestrian at a Hollywood crosswalk has taken the stand in his Los Angeles murder trial.
David Moses Jassy repeatedly told jurors Tuesday that he never intended to hurt the victim and was defending himself and his girlfriend after the man banged on the hood of their rented SUV. He testified he was in fear for his life.
Jassy has pleaded not guilty to murder, assault and other charges in the November 2008 death of John Osnes, a Los Angeles jazz pianist.
Prosecutors say Jassy got out of his car and punched Osnes in the face. They allege Jassy then kicked Osnes in the head and ran over him as he drove away.
If convicted, Jassy faces a possible life sentence.
