Woman who helped husband kidnap Exxon exec is free
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Authorities say the woman who admitted helping her husband kidnap an Exxon executive from his New Jersey home has been freed after 17 years in federal prison.
Irene Seale will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office in Illinois for the next five years.
Seale, now 63, and her husband grabbed Sidney Reso (REE’soh) in the driveway of his Morris Township home in 1992 and demanded $18.5 million in ransom.
The 57-year-old president of Exxon Co. International was shot in the arm during a struggle and died days later while hidden in a box.
The pair were captured in less than two months. Irene Seale led investigators to a state park, where she and her husband had buried Reso’s remains.
Arthur Seale also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
