Man pleads not guilty in NJ retirement park attack

MAYS LANDING, N.J. — A New Jersey retirement community resident has pleaded not guilty to fatally stabbing his 88-year-old neighbor and wounding two others.

Sixty-five-year-old Anthony Milano of Linwood entered the plea through his attorney Tuesday. Charges include murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Prosecutors say Milano attacked Catherine McGowan and her daughter, 60-year-old Diane Nehmad, outside McGowan’s apartment at the Village at Linwood on Oct. 8. An 84-year-old resident was wounded when he tried to intervene.

Residents say Milano acted erratically and feuded with his neighbors. He remains jailed in lieu of $2 million bail.
