Bassist who toured with Lauryn Hill fatally shot
CROCKETT, Calif. — Authorities in California are looking for suspects in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man who played bass and toured the world with singer Lauryn Hill.
The California Highway Patrol says Dewey Tucker was found dead in his vehicle Tuesday night, having been shot on his way to band practice in Oakland.
Investigators have made no arrests, and say it appears Tucker was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. They say he had no criminal history.
Tucker’s parents say their son was engaged and was an outgoing young man who lived to play music.
Tucker performed with Hill over the past couple of years and played with Oakland hip-hop group the Coup. He was also a member of the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church band in Oakland.
