Police: Houston students knew of plot to slay mom

HOUSTON — Police say some students in Houston had heard about an alleged plot by a classmate to have his mother killed before she was stabbed to death.

The Houston Chronicle reported Friday that some current and former students at Lee High School told police they didn’t take the alleged plan seriously enough to report it.

Seventeen-year-old Danish Moazzam Minhas is accused of hiring 18-year-old Nur Mohamed to kill his mother, who was stabbed multiple times Nov. 25.

Both teens have been charged with capital murder and are jailed without bail. Attorneys for the teens say they still haven’t reviewed all the evidence in the case.

Houston police Sgt. Brian Harris says no other arrests are expected.
