Toll in China colliery fire is 25

BEIJING - With the recovery of 16 bodies Wednesday, the death toll in a coal mine fire in China’s Hunan province reached 25, authorities said.

At least three workers were still trapped in the Lisheng Coal Mine, where underground cables caught fire Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

About 70 miners were working at the time of the incident. Forty-three escaped. Nine bodies were recovered late Tuesday.
