Man arrested in connection with deadly Mass. fire
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — A 25-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a Massachusetts fire that killed two of his neighbors.
Anthony P. Baye is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Northampton District Court on two counts of murder, arson and armed burglary.
District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel (SHY’-buhl) said Baye was arrested at about 8 p.m. Monday.
The Dec. 27 blaze claimed the lives of 81-year-old Paul Yeskie Sr. and his 39-year-old son, Paul Yeskie Jr. It was one of nine fires in Northampton set within hours.
Baye, who lives in the Yeskies’ neighborhood, has not been charged with the other fires. A woman who answered the phone at the Baye home Tuesday declined to comment.
Neighborhood association president Gerald Budgar says residents are greatly relieved that an arrest has been made.
