Bills’ Lynch sued by Ontario woman he hit with SUV

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A pedestrian who was hit by Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch’s SUV in 2008 is suing the player, claiming he was drunk and that she was permanently injured.

Timothy O’Connell, the lawyer representing Kimberly Shpeley (SHPELL’-lee), says a civil claim for an unspecified amount in damages was filed in Erie County Court on Dec. 28. He declined to discuss the Canadian woman’s injuries.

Lynch’s lawyer, Michael Caffery, denies that the 23-year-old player was drunk. Caffery notes Lynch was not charged with driving while intoxicated.

Lynch’s Porsche struck Shpeley in the city’s bar district at about 3:30 a.m. in May 2008. He pleaded guilty to failure to exercise due care toward a pedestrian, a violation, and was fined $100.
