BEIJING - A gas explosion Tuesday left at least four people injured and 1,000 homeless in Hohhot, capital of north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, an official said.

Xinhua news agency reported that the injured included two children. A 47-year-old man was seriously injured and still in danger, said doctors of the 253 Hospital of Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

The accident occurred at about 6.20 a.m. on the third floor of a dormitory building in the Hohhot No.2 Hospital.

The building was leaning at an angle after the explosion.

More than 1,000 people were evacuated from their homes.

Police said they were investigating the cause of the blast.
