Police arrest father of CA boy who ingested meth
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Police have arrested the father of a 15-month-old California boy who ingested methamphetamine earlier this week.
Santa Cruz police Capt. Steve Clark says 28-year-old Jeremy Ochoa was taken into custody on suspicion of child endangerment Wednesday after detectives determined he was the source of the drug.
Detectives believe the child came in contact with the methamphetamine Monday night while Ochoa was visiting the boy and the boy’s mother. Ochoa and the toddler’s mother do not live together.
The mother brought the boy to the hospital after noticing unusual behavior by him. Tests confirmed the boy had ingested meth.
Clark says the child has fully recovered. He has been turned over to Child Protective Services.
Ochoa was being held on $5,000 bail.
