Charge dropped in case of dead Pa. triplet toddler
PITTSBURGH — Prosecutors have dropped an assault charge against a Pittsburgh man accused of injuring one of his girlfriend’s toddler triplets, who died days later.
Allegheny County district attorney’s office spokesman Mike Manko says 20-year-old Anthony George still is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. The aggravated assault charge was dropped Wednesday for lack of evidence.
George was baby-sitting his girlfriend’s 2-year-old triplets at their home last month while she was out playing bingo with a friend. He told police the three girls were injured in a “domino effect” when they fell down stairs while playing in plastic high-heeled shoes.
Doctors say triplet Kaiyah Beck suffered a head injury inconsistent with a fall down stairs. She died at a hospital.
The other two girls suffered minor injuries.
