Colo. bar shooting suspect ordered to stand trial

EAGLE, Colo. — A Colorado judge has ordered a 63-year-old man to stand trial for the shooting death of a physician at a Vail sports bar.

The ruling Thursday came after a two-day hearing in which prosecutors played a surveillance video they say shows Richard “Rossi” Moreau shooting Gary Bruce Kitching of Carbondale. Three others were wounded during the Nov. 7 shooting at the Sandbar Sports Grill.

The slaying was the first in Vail in 30 years. Witnesses told police the shootings happened after Moreau was escorted out of the bar because of an altercation.

Moreau is being held without bail. He faces several charges, including first-degree murder, and two counts of attempted murder. A trial date has not been set.
