Daughter takes stand in father’s NJ incest trial
PATERSON, N.J. — The daughter of a New Jersey man accused of raping five of his daughters and impregnating three has taken the stand, calmly telling jurors of the abuse she endured throughout her childhood.
The woman, in her early 20s, spoke slowly as she testified Wednesday in her father’s trial. She says her father told his family he was a prophet sent here to “change the system.”
The man’s former wife already testified that he held apocalyptic visions and wanted to create “pure” family bloodlines.
The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify victims of sexual crimes and is not reporting the names of the husband and wife to protect the identities of their children, now over 18.
The man was arrested in 2006 and ruled competent to stand trial this year. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
