Ex-wife describes life in NJ incest-rape trial
PATERSON, N.J. — A woman says her ex-husband, who is accused of raping and impregnating his daughters, insisted that all his offspring be born at their New Jersey home so there would be no government records.
The woman testified at his trial Wednesday that he used the threat “no one knows you exist” to keep the children out of school and away from doctors.
The man has pleaded not guilty to 27 sexual assault and child endangerment-related charges.
The ex-wife is on the stand for a second day in the first of five trials. There will be one for each child.
The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify victims of sexual crimes and is not reporting the names of the man or his former wife to protect the identities of their children. They’re now older than 18.
