Arrest warrant issued in Washington acid hoax
VANCOUVER, Wash. — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Washington state woman who splashed a caustic substance on her face and claimed a stranger had attacked her.
Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Tony Golik on Monday filed three felony theft charges against Bethany Storro.
Golik said Monday evening he has issued an arrest warrant, but he says Storro is hospitalized. He says he doesn’t know why or where, although he says police know her location.
The charges relate to nearly $28,000 donated to benefit Storro after she was burned. Storro’s parents have said all money raised for her will be returned.
In court papers, Storro is quoted as saying she was trying to kill herself, or at least get a new face, when she put caustic drain cleaner on her face Aug. 30. She admitted last week her injuries were self-inflicted.
