More charges coming in serial stabbings probe
FLINT, Mich. — A prosecutor says he’s filing more charges against the man accused of one stabbing and suspected of many others in Michigan and two other states.
Prosecutor David Leyton has scheduled a news conference for Monday. Spokesman John Potbury declined to discuss the charges in advance.
Five men in the Flint, Mich., area were killed and nine others were injured in a series of stabbings between spring and early August.
So far, Elias Abuelazam (A’-boo-LAH’-zuhm) is charged in just one case, the attempted murder of a 26-year-old man. He was arrested last month while trying to travel to Israel.
Abuelazam also is a suspect in two stabbings and a hammer attack in Virginia and a stabbing in Ohio.
A message seeking comment was left for his lawyer.
