Mass. candidate for Congress helps nab suspect

FALMOUTH, Mass. — A district attorney who’s used to prosecuting criminal suspects has helped catch one in Massachusetts.

Norfolk District Attorney William Keating says he joined other diners at a restaurant Sunday morning in chasing a man suspected of stealing a handbag in Falmouth (FAL’-muth), in the southwestern part of Cape Cod.

Country Fare Restaurant owner Paula Maccini says about 20 people including a waitress and a cook chased the man and cornered him in a back yard until police arrived and arrested him.

Falmouth police haven’t provided any information.

Keating is a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the state’s 10th Congressional District. He faces state Sen. Robert O’Leary in Tuesday’s primary. They’re vying to replace U.S. Rep. William Delahunt, who’s retiring after seven terms.
