Md. police seek gunman, interstate ramps closed
BETHESDA, Md. — A lockdown has been lifted at two suburban Washington, D.C., schools but police are keeping some interstate highway ramps closed as they search for a man they say fired a high-powered rifle at his ex-girlfriend.
Montgomery County Police say the man reportedly fired at least one shot around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in Bethesda, Md. The woman was not injured.
Ramps to and from Interstate 270 in the area remain closed. All exterior doors at Walter Johnson High School and Tilden Middle School were locked for three hours, but those precautions have been lifted.
Police are asking people to stay away from the area. They say no one should approach the suspect and should instead call 911.
